Terms of Service
Last updated 4 August 2026
QuizCaster is a free web game, currently in early ("pre-alpha") development. These terms are an agreement between you and the team behind QuizCaster ("we", "us"). By using the game, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the game.
Who can use QuizCaster
QuizCaster is open to learners of all ages and is also made to be friendly for children. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the game only with the permission and supervision of a parent or guardian, who accepts these terms on your behalf. Parents and guardians are responsible for a child's use of the game.
Family Profiles and parent-account features are for adults. A person creating a Parent Account confirms that they are a parent or legal guardian, have authority to create and manage the child profiles under that account, and accept these terms and the Privacy Policy for those children's use of QuizCaster.
The game
- QuizCaster is provided free of charge for personal, non-commercial use.
- It is an early build. Features may change, be added, break, or be removed at any time. Progress saved on a device or in a cloud profile may be lost, reset, delayed, or fail to sync.
- Family Profiles are optional and may not be available in every build, device, or region. The game remains available for local play without a Parent Account.
- We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the game (in whole or in part) at any time without notice.
Parent Accounts and child profiles
Where Family Profiles are available, an adult may create a Parent Account using Google sign-in, an emailed magic link, or email and password. The adult may create one or more child profiles, called "spellcasters," to keep each child's progress separate. A child profile is not a separate login account and does not have its own email or password.
- The adult must provide an email address they control and keep the sign-in method secure. Account information must be accurate and may not impersonate another person.
- The adult is responsible for activity through the Parent Account and for the children using profiles under it. If unauthorized access is suspected, the adult should sign out on affected devices, secure the email or Google account used to sign in, and contact us.
- Use a nickname for a child profile, not a child's full or real name. Do not put a child's contact information or other sensitive information in a profile, quiz, challenge name, or feedback message.
- Anyone using a shared device that remains signed in may be able to see and switch among the child profiles available on that device. Family Profiles separate game saves, but they are not a security barrier between siblings or other device users.
Cloud saves and shared devices
QuizCaster is local-first. The game continues to read and write browser storage, and Family Profiles copy supported categories of progress to and from the cloud when a connection is available. Cloud backup includes game progress, learning and review history, run history, achievements, earned items and currency, cosmetics, and study settings, as described in the Privacy Policy.
- The first child profile on a device may adopt progress already stored in that browser. A shared save can be assigned to only one child profile. Additional child profiles start fresh.
- When the same profile is used on more than one device, QuizCaster generally keeps the most recently synchronized version of each category of data. Simultaneous or offline use can cause one version to replace another.
- Signing out does not necessarily remove local browser data. Deleting a cloud profile or all cloud family data may also leave a local copy on a device until it is cleared through QuizCaster or the browser settings.
- Cloud backup is provided as a convenience, not as a guaranteed archival or recovery service. Families remain responsible for any information they choose to create or rely on.
Acceptable use
When using QuizCaster, you agree not to:
- Misuse, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the game or its systems;
- Access or use another family's Parent Account or child profiles without permission;
- Share passwords, magic links, session links, or other account credentials with anyone who is not authorized to use the Parent Account;
- Use the game to break the law or to harm, harass, or infringe the rights of others;
- Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or interfere with the game except as allowed by law;
- Submit content (for example, through feedback or quizzes) that is unlawful, harmful, or violates someone else's rights.
We may reject, remove, or disable content or access when reasonably necessary to enforce these terms, protect children or other users, comply with law, or secure the service. We are not required to monitor every submission.
Content you create
QuizCaster lets you create or import quizzes. You are responsible for that content and confirm you have the right to use it. You keep ownership of content you create. You grant us permission to store and process that content as needed to operate the game, including backing up supported account data and, when you choose to share a quiz, making that quiz available to other players through share or challenge links.
A share or challenge link may be opened, copied, or forwarded by anyone who receives it. Shared content should be treated as public, even if the link was sent to only one person. Do not include personal or sensitive information in quizzes, challenge names, profile nicknames, or feedback.
Optional support payments
QuizCaster is free to play. The optional "Support us" feature lets an adult choose a voluntary payment amount to help fund development. It does not purchase game content, a subscription, ownership, or special treatment, and it is not a tax-deductible charitable donation. Payments are processed by Stripe. Payment details shown during checkout, Stripe's terms, and applicable law also apply. Children may not make a support payment without a parent or guardian.
Deleting profiles and accounts
- An adult can remove one child profile from Family Profiles. This permanently deletes that profile and its cloud progress from the Parent Account.
- "Delete all family data" permanently deletes all child profiles and cloud progress and the account quiz library. It removes local profile copies from the current browser but keeps the adult signed in. It does not delete the adult login record or email.
- "Delete parent account" sends a time-limited confirmation link to the adult email. Opening that link while signed in permanently deletes the adult login record and email, all child profiles, cloud progress, and account quiz library data. This action cannot be undone.
- When a deleted Parent Account owns a teacher class, ownership transfers to an available co-teacher. If there is no co-teacher, that class and its roster and session history are deleted.
- Local profile copies are removed from the browser that completes account deletion. Copies on another device or browser may remain locally and must be cleared there.
We may delete an inactive Parent Account and its associated cloud data under the retention schedule in the Privacy Policy. We may also suspend or terminate access if these terms are violated, if necessary to protect the service or its users, or if the service is discontinued. Where required, we will provide notice or preserve information needed for legal obligations, security, or dispute handling.
Our intellectual property
The game and everything in it that we provide - including the QuizCaster name, logo, artwork, audio, characters, and code - belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These terms do not grant you any rights to our intellectual property except the limited right to play the game for personal use.
Third-party services
QuizCaster relies on third-party providers for services such as authentication, hosting, email delivery, analytics, payment processing, and quiz sharing. If an adult chooses Google sign-in or follows a link to another service, that provider's own terms and privacy policy also apply to its service. We do not control third-party services and are not responsible for their independent content or practices, except where the law provides otherwise.
No warranty
QuizCaster is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the game will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that it will meet your requirements or produce particular learning outcomes.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the game. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
Privacy
Our handling of information is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. It explains parent accounts, child profile data, cloud progress, analytics, sharing, retention, and deletion choices.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the game evolves. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. If a change materially increases Parent Account obligations or materially changes how the account works, we will provide any additional notice required by law, which may include an account email or in-game notice. Continuing to use the game after the updated terms take effect means you accept them. If you do not agree, stop using the game and delete the applicable cloud profiles or account data.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the U.S. state in which the operator of QuizCaster is based, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Where local law gives you, or a child you are responsible for, rights that cannot be waived, nothing here limits them.
